IZUMI | Milan Salone 2015 |
Izumi in Japanese means natural source. From this source, at the center of the fountain, the water flows out to the outside edge on a flat plane, then drop just before the edge of the stone surface. Thanks to its shape and the water collection system, Izumi can safely stand both in open environments, gardens, courtyards, and also indoors, both public and private. Observing the shape of the fountain from above, the image we have is a squared shape, static, minimal. Going down instead towards the base of the fountain this shape becomes curvy, unstable. As if it were the lower part of a drop of water, cutted horizontally. This is the idea that Izumi wants to communicate with the wavy lines surrounding the corolla around the base; circular ripples in the water as if they were in fact caused by a drop that falls. The same form refers to a second symbol, a zen garden, which is also marked by grooves regularly tracks in the sand. In this case the reference is to another natural element; the earth.
Product name: "IZUMI" Designer: Setsu & Shinobu ITO Manufacturer: Grassi Pietre Material : Rock from Vicenza Dimensions: W.120 x D.120 x H.50 (cm) Design work year: 2015 |
