Lotus flowers grow straight up from the stems of muddy ponds, and even though they emerge from the mud, they bloom into splendid flowers without getting dirty. For this reason, the lotus flower is considered a symbol of purity, and has been considered a sacred flower in Asia. HASU is a light that uses the receptacle of a lotus flower after it has finished blooming as its motif, and doubles as a vase in which to place other flowers in the beehive-like holes. Just like the lotus, where everything from the flowers to the seeds, and the stems to the roots are useful, it represents the strong vitality that allows new flowers to bloom even after the flowers wither.

蓮の花は泥水のような池の中から真直ぐに茎を伸ばし、泥から出てきても泥に汚れることなく、華麗な花を咲かせます。このことから蓮（ハス）の花は清らかさの象徴と考えられ、アジアでは神聖な花とされてきました。HASUはハスの花が咲き終わった後の花托をモチーフに、蜂の巣のように開いた穴に別の花を生ける花瓶を兼ねたライトです。花から種子、茎から根まで全て役にたつハスらしく、花が枯れても新たな花を咲かせる強い生命力を表しています。
